North West League Division Three (Weekend: 18&19/2/2012)
On Saturday, Morecambe Men’s 1s travelled to The Wirral, knowing that victory over Bebington Men’s 2s would ensure that they remained on top of Division Three. The away side were made to work hard and ran out 6-2 winners, after a battling display. Morecambe’s goals came from the in-form Craig Allison (2), Rob Pritchard (2), Mike Sambell and Man of the Match, Steve Goodwin.
On Sunday, Morecambe travelled to Manchester to face bottom club Urmston Men’s 2s, who had earned only their first win of the season the previous day. Morecambe were rampant against the struggling side, running out 18-0 winners. The goals were scored by Man of the Match, Nick Davey (4), Phil Molyneux (4), Robert Pritchard (3), Steve Goodwin (2), Craig Allison (2) and one each from Matt Bayley, Luke Heap and Mike Sambell, as Morecambe ended the weekend on a high.
Morecambe remain at the top of the table, however tough challenges await them in the coming weeks, with the season far from over.
