Morecambe took the top spot in North West League Division 3 after a commanding weekend at theUniversityofCumbria, resulted in two emphatic victories.
On Saturday, Morecambe welcomed Mossley Hill. Four goals from Man of the Match Craig Allison were complimented by a brace from Steve Goodwin and one each from Nick Davey, Phil Molyneux, Rob Pritchard and Mike Sambell to put the home side in a confident mood.
On Sunday, Morecambe were the hosts for their rearranged fixture against Neston South Wirral 2s. A young Neston side battled hard, but ultimately succumbed to Morecambe’s pressure. An outstanding performance from Man of the Match Mike Sambell, coupled with two goals each from Phil Molyneux and Luke Heap and one each from Iain Burstow, Craig Allison, Nick Davey, Steve Goodwin and Rob Pritchard, completed a successful weekend for Morecambe 1s.
Morecambe head into the final six games of the season in a strong position, but with plenty of hard work still ahead.
