Morecambe 2nds 3-3 Moseley Hill
Morecambe’s final home game of the season was a top of the table clash which saw the 2nd team battling a finely tuned Mossley Hill side.
After a shaky start which led to two Mossley hill goals, Morecambe’s fight back led to a short corner won by Andy Hodge who was hacked whilst running down the wing. The short corner was pushed out with precision by the young Holland, stopped with cool accuracy by the agile Swiss and Andy ’lightning’ Hodge penetrated Mossley’s defence with a deadly strike from the top of the D slotting the ball into the bottom left corner .
With Morecambe’s confidence boosted Alan Hodge ceased the moment and fired a precision pass to Holland who was viscously hacked from behind falling to the floor within the Mossley D. A penalty stroke was awarded and Andy beat the keeper with ease , sending him the wrong way. With Morecambe’s equaliser came another surge, and after some reflex saves by the Morecambe stand in keeper Cooky and a clearance by the powerhouse winder to the agile Smith, Alan scored off a move arbitrated by brooks, slotting the ball into the bottom right corner just out of reach of the massive Mossley goal keeper.
After some friendly banter between the umpires Mossley caught Morecambe off guard and with Pearcy down to one hand after a well struck ball on his left hand, fired in another equalizer past the shoulder of Cooky. A hard fought battle means the score of 3 -3 was enough to secure Morecambe promotion. Onwards and upwards for the 2nd team.
